Pledge, 2019
Pledge was a short performance followed by audience participation to collectively make a drawing inspired by Neil Armstrong's iconic words "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".
It was performed as part of the Under the Moon Festival under Artist Luke Jerram's spectacular Museum of the Moon sculpture in St Peter's Church, Bournemouth and outside at the Nothe Fort, Weymouth in the summer of 2019. With the help of audience members, two large drawings were made from hundreds of carbon footprints using sustainable and locally sourced charcoal, and 360 pledges were made to take a small step to reduce the individual's carbon footprint. Carrie is hoping to exhibit the pledges and the two giant drawings, when a suitable venue can be sourced. Commissioned by the Dorset Festivals Consortium ( b-side Festival, Inside Out Dorset and Bournemouth Arts by the Sea) supported by the Arts Development Company and funding from the European Regional Development Fund and Arts Council England.
